A Course in Miracles

A Course in Miracles is a path of spiritual development that takes the form of an educational course consisting of a Text, a Workbook for Students, and a Manual for Teachers. Its aim is to reeducate our basic perception of reality and teach us to extend this new perception to others, so that we can both give happiness and find happiness. – Circle of Atonement

Flow like the river; shine like the sun

So many people seem to be on a quest to find inner peace, happiness, abundance, prosperity, joy, love – you know, the ultimate dream life. But while they chase after material things that tie them to the world’s way of seeing things, they overlook simple truths right before them. If we can learn from anything, then nature is a great place to start. Trees and plants look towards the Sun in the day, and blooms close when it turns a darker shade of pale. And we are pretty much the same. When it is sunny in our lives, we open up, embrace all that is, but when darkness befalls us, we close up and shrivel into a corner. It is time that people saw this for what it is. An excuse for not recognizing the magnitude of power and love that is within you right now. Right here and now. But it is covered by so much coveting, that it seems like what I am saying is nothing but hogwash. Well that was precisely what I thought when I started reading and learning the principles of A Course in Miracles in 2017. But what I did not know was that I was intellectualizing it all. Instead of having an actual experience of what the Course was teaching me, I was living from my head and not fully integrating anything into my heart and the truth of what I am. I raged. Got super angry. Thought I was going bonkers, only to find that what I was doing was resisting the flow of life that was starting to rise within me. I now know better.

I know that if you want to truly get the full value of A Course in Miracles, then you need to do the 365 lessons (one a day for year), and not just ‘do’ them, but live them. And 365 days is nothing compared to the freedom you will receive for the rest of your life.

I am done with trying to explain the inexplicable. Linguistically I understand that we have given names to things that we speak about, or how else would we be able to communicate to others? I tried various words for ‘God’. Is God the correct term? For want of not coming across as religious or super spiritual, I avoided saying God, as people have their own perceptions of the meaning of this word. I tried Universe, Source, The Creator of All, Life’s Force, Love’s Force, and on and on …. none of these particularly spoke to me. But when I sit in silence, just focusing on the power that is present in all of us, then all words and the need to define It, becomes irrelevant. This truth is the ultimate form of love, and that is all that matters. A Course in Miracles does use religious terminology, but it is not a religion. It is merely an educational course on A Course in Miracles. It uses Christian terminology, but again, this is merely to explain the nameless in a way that can be conveyed to our own understanding.

Do not get put off by the terminology, as I was. Use whatever names work for you. The teachings are no less real. And don’t let the name of the Teachers of God Foundation fool you either. Here, God refers to love’s pure presence that is within each of us. There is no need to complicate your life.

It is not about religion or even the branding of awakening or spirituality, it is merely a way to describe the inexplicable.

The Tao Te Ching puts it perfectly – The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the eternal name. The Tao is both named and nameless. As nameless it is the origin of all things; as named it is the Mother of 10,000 things. Ever desireless, one can see the mystery; ever desiring, one sees only the manifestations. And the mystery itself is the doorway to all understanding. – 1st Verse of the Tao Te Ching
